ShrinkTheWeb's "Site of the Month" Picks
This page will feature several of the year's picks for best implementation, creative use, or heavy exposure. We have released free, sample "mods" and so have some of our helpful members and we encourage free sharing of code and "mods" in an effort to develop the coolest new websites based on or centered around website thumbnails.
If your site uses ShrinkTheWeb thumbnails, be sure to submit yourself for site of the month!
We also give props to those sites that are not centered around website thumbnails but employ them in such a way as to distinguish themselves from their competitors, thereby giving them a distinct advantage.
Currently, there are no nominations for consideration and STW reserves the right to review websites and choose a monthly winner based on a variety of criteria. Once we attain adequate support staff, we will begin holding nominations and probably implement a voting system. Until then, just sit back and let the great ideas flow! Good luck to everyone!
September Site of the Month: ozsmallbiz.net

Service: Small Business Directory
Unique Use: SBSN is an aussie run directory that has been around for 10 years and has managed to become a well respected directory listing on the web. They recently overhauled their listings with the help of ShrinkTheWeb thumbnails to locate broken/expired/parked domains.
This is a good looking directory and site and we are proud to have them as our site of the month pick!

August Site of the Month: koaladir.com

Service: General Directory
Unique Use: Integrated basic features with a full-featured link approval admin system. This makes it easier to "see" the sites that are waiting for approval and greatly speeds along the process when dealing with large numbers of new submissions or moving sites between categories, etc.

July Site of the Month: tech555.com

Service: Information Technology focused web directory
Unique Use: This is our second site of the month pick. The introduction of a nomination based system allowed us to really focus on what each of the submitted sites has to offer. It wasn't easy, but after careful consideration of each of the selection criteria, Tech555.com stood out as the best choice. Tech555.com is a user friendly tech focused web directory and forum with all original content presented in a very visually appealing and intuitive way.
Just so everyone is aware, Tech555.com is using only the basic service, but has provided a valuable promotional tool with the creation and distribution of a STW vbulletin mod. So far this mod has been download and installed 73 times, so far, and has created quite a bit of interest in our site. This is a great example of the kind of promotional support from which STW can really benefit.

May Site of the Month: glotouch.com

Service: Highly customizable search engine portal
Unique Use: Glotouch allows users to choose from a variety of default backgrounds that show whenever you visit their search engine portal. Glotouch shows each user a thumbnail image to give a quick idea of how it will look without having to actually apply to see it. They also cache our thumbnails locally and show them in their tour --which easily conveys the idea.
Editor's Notes: This is our first site of the month pick and it definitely was not an easy choice. There are several hundred website already using ShrinkTheWeb (currently in BETA) and many of them have a unique use of STW thumbnails. Glotouch took the time to employ the API to cache locally, use the Specific Page PRO feature, use the custom-size PRO feature, and also heavily integrate thumbnails into their "customized background" feature to help them stand out to us during this round of picks.
