Previews weren't working so I checked my Lock to Account and it had
mydomain.com/

I removed the trailing slash for mydomain.com and it works fine now.
Check yours for the same.

Awesome. Glad you fixed it so quickly.

Just a note as reference for others too: If you put an inside page (i.e. have a trailing slash and a page following), then we will lock down to just that page. So do be mindful about unintended trailing slashes.

Thanks for posting, howling.

Cheers,

Hi,

All my lock-to account settings looks fine. i'm using the Wp-portfolio plugin but all my images have "thumbnail queued for update".

however looking on this site all the thumbnails look to be there correctly.

Any help greatly appreciated

Thanks

Hello,

Your settings do look OK. You may need to get support from Dan on the WP-Portfolio, but in most cases where the thumbnail remains queued; it turns out to be a "cache" issue. If there is a way to clear your cache, maybe that will help...?

Okay, so I put off getting to the changes, because at first glance, it didn't appear as though I needed to make any. I checked again tonight and still see nothing I need to change. Your e-mails indicate that these changes will affect ALL users. So, I figured I must be missing something. However, all the code I use appears to match exactly what it should, unless I'm missing something. I'm a bit of a security freak anyway and I believe I locked the account to my websites exclusively. Perhaps it's because I'm a newer user, so the code I've been using is "fresh" and reflects the changes you guys wanted already. Or perhaps I'm just blind. I've read all of the posts through. I don't think I've missed anything, but I also haven't made any changes, other than removing the "test" domains your script adds to the referrer box on my dashboard.

Hi Schvenn,

That's what we're finding out, actually, that most users thought these changes didn't affect them for some reason. We were receiving hundreds of emails, so that was the reason for my somewhat harsh "wake up and read this" email. lol.

Anyway, as a non-paying user, these changes do affect you but I took a look at your account and you already have everything locked down properly (more than necessary, actually). So that's OK. And I visited your site and see the images embedded and working, so all is good. Eventually, we will be asking non-paying users to migrate to the new javascript verification preview method (code can be found in your lobby area), but that is not yet being enforced.

Also, what I meant by you locked down more than necessary is that when you use domain.tld (without a subdomain), that is all-inclusive of any sub-domain. So it's OK that you listed subdomains too but it's technically redundant. I just mention for any geeks like me that might read this, because it does technically take an extra 0.00001s to read the extra fields. Wink

I'm having difficulties - I've added 5 referrer domains that use this service but when I try to create a thumbnail from one of the referring websites i.e

http://images.shrinktheweb.com/xino.php?stwembed=1&stwxmax=320&stwymax=240&stwaccesskeyid=MYIDHERE&stwurl=URL

...I get a blank page, and no thumbnail generated. Exact same URL was generating thumbnails prior to the lockdown.

I entered my referrers testing both with "www" and without "www"

I don't mind upgrading though. If I upgrade to PRO, do I need the full package or can I arbitrarily choose any of the $9.95 monthly packages to get this to work?

Hi Psilva,

Technically, you could avoid the lock to account by upgrading but you should not have to upgrade to get this working. It was not our intention to do this to make people upgrade.

Really, it is better for our users too, because "Lock to Account" has always been highly recommended, but has become a necessity for us now.

I will be investigating any posts by users that have not yet already been resolved by Frank (once I check through my mountain of emails). Wink

Best regards,

Brandon

Hello,

We use STW using IP address using proxies for our internal clients without actualy visiting the sites but get the website screenshot.

I have provided these IP addresses in the references.

121.xxx.xxx.21
125.xxx.xxx.8

Is there something else I need to do ?

Hello,

If you are using ONLY the "advanced method", then no, that is all that you have to do. If you show them embedded in your website, too, then you would add the domain.

Best regards,

Brandon
