Using the refresh on-demand option is fairly straight-forward.

To request a refresh of a website thumbnail, you simply add &redo=1
to your request. That will re-queue that thumbnail for re-capture in the regular queue.

Warning: Be sure to put this tag somewhere in your request BEFORE the &Url. Otherwise, the tag will be ignored and becomes part of the specific Url requested.

This feature is useful for those what want a "before" and "after" history or who queue a lot of broken requests (typically foreign domains that are down at the time of request) that are working now.

I'm having some problems with the redo=1 option.

if I try to fetch the domain via STW web it says its marked as invalid

Hi Gordan,

I forgot to put the warning (which I just now added to my original post) to NOT put the &redo=1 variable after the &stwUrl variable.

Try this instead:
http://www.shrinktheweb.com/xino.php?Service=ShrinkWebUrlThumbnail&Action=Thumbnail&STWAccessKeyId=XXX&Size=xlg&redo=1&stwu=XXX&stwUrl=www.swing.hr

That should work.

still getting the same XML response
I tried a few times and even withouth www but the response is the same

I tried updateing another domain www.bug.hr but it returns the same image over&over ...

Ok, this seems to be an oversight. We supported redo=1 on the next version of the request script but didn't apply it to the current version.

I have integrated the redo=1 support on the current version, which should now work during the transition period to the newer version (soon).

In short, it should work now. I called &redo=1 on bug.hr and it did get updated, although it was only slightly different than before.

Thanks for your quick response Brandon.
I hate to be the party pooper but I still have some issues with invalid domains.

i request www.meritormedia.hr with redo=1
i get success with
http://www.shrinktheweb.com/thumbs/d89g83938jfowic8/www.meritormedia.hr-320.jpg which doesn't exist

but if i request meritormedia.hr redo=1 I do get a valid image
http://www.shrinktheweb.com/thumbs/d89g83938jfowic8/meritormedia.hr-320.jpg

EDIT
another example
www.math.hr request with redo ... success but nothing ....
math.hr with redo success but again 404 on image
a few seconds later I try the image again and its there

so basically I always get success but ...

The problem in that case is that the domain doesn't exist. So, you should be getting a false instead of a true on the exists.

I have added that and will test it in a minute.

because I can open both of them so I guess there's a temp/permanent DNS issue somewhere

Neither of those "work" from any of our locations.

So, a temporary routing issue is very possible, since they work for you.

However, I am trying to connect to those from a cable modem, a DSL connection, and static routes from two different physical locations in the US. So, it might make sense to see if there is a routing problem with the server host in your country.
