Is this the same as "THUMBSHOTS"?

Hi gang,

A couple of Q's fr a new STW User (who can't find A's in the FAQs)

- IS THIS SAME AS "THUMBSHOTS"? All I can read about so far (including 1. the Wordpress Plugin, and, 2. the downloadable "Advanced PDF") is about setting up Thumbshots of Existing Posts WITHIN a site or a blog. WHERE'S THE STUFF ABOUT A THUMBSHOT OF YOUR SITE THAT WILL APPEAR IN THE SEARCH ENGINE PAGES???

- IF THIS IS AN EQUIVALENT TO THUMBSHOTS, SO WHERE DO WE EMBED THE CODE THAT THIS "SIMPLE METHOD" GENERATES ON SCREEN???
Do we clip and paste into our Wordpress SEO Page at the bottom in the
Additional Page Headers,
or in,
Additional Home Headers
????

WHAT ABOUT A REGULAR WEBSITE (vs a Wordpress site)= Where exactly do we place the generated code?

LAST QUESTION:
I notice the reference to "image src. = shrinktheweb...." Does this mean we involuntarily display links back to Shrink The Web ???

Thanks in advance for the guidance on this,
Vance.

Hi Vance,

Welcome to ShrinkTheWeb.

Q1. Is this service like "Thumbshots"?

A. Yes, only better! Big smile We automate the capture of website screenshots but with much higher quality, scalability (capable of higher volume), and no extended downtimes like all the other providers.

Q2. Where do we embed the PagePix code for embedded requests?

A. If you are not using a plugin, then each case is different. It is up to you to figure out where to place the code. Our services are available for an hourly rate. Basically, though, if you already have code from a similar service, such as Thumbshots, then you would just replace the entire < img src > tag with the one we provide in the lobby area (when logged in). Aside from that, you may also find a specific integration in the forum posted by others. I've seen posts on vBulletin, Wordpress, Joomla, made a post on phpLD (PHP Link Directory), made a guide on PremiumPress (see PagePix Plugins Page), etc. Also notice that there is a "Search this site" at the top of every page where you can type in keywords that may pinpoint the relevant place in the forum or site.

We spent hundreds of hours documenting, so please take a moment longer to look around the site. We provide the tools to help you find what you are seeking. If there is nothing on the site to help you, we may be able to document for your specific case, unless it is considered a "billable consulting project."

Q3. Is it optional to link back to ShrinkTheWeb (attribution)?

A. Yes, it is optional but VERY MUCH appreciated if you enjoy the service. Wink

Cheers!

Brandon

Hi, I regret not making myself clear in how I asked the questions....
so,

Q.2 Where do we embed the code if we are trying to get the equivalent of Thumbshots, i.e., a thumbnail pic of our website on the search results page.
If we are using Wordpress blog, and can use Plugins, then IF we activate the STW Plugin, then isn't that for making thumbnails of each and every post in our blog, and not, necessarily, what I am after here....I am looking for a thumbnail pic of my blog site to appear in the search results pages of Google, Bing, Yahoo, and any SE's that display thumbnails of websites in the results.
I am not looking to provide thumbnail pics of each and every post.

IF instead of the STW WPplugin that might only provide thumbnails for posts, is there separate code or a separate plugin that will deliver a thumbnail of the blog Site?

Sorry if that's a little redundant, but hopefully this time I was able to keep the point clear.

Please advise, thanks,
ALSO, I was hoping to get an email notification whenever there may be activity on my thread (other forums offer this). Maybe I missed it here.

thanks,
Vance

Ah. I see. I think you are looking more for a browser plugin that shows website previews beside the results. A good one that we know of is the Xmarks Plugin.
