As many of our customers have become aware recently, our merchant provider, Electronic Payment Systems, ceased operations of their online payment gateway on June 17th, 2010. This, they did, with no prior warning or notice. This caused ShrinkTheWeb serious and irreparable damages in lost revenue, temporary inability to accept certain types of new customers, and a damaged reputation.
Electronic Payment Systems further exacerbated the situation by not giving its customers any kind of notice, at any point, that the service was offline. We were not even aware of an issue until we had lost over a full month of credit card subscription revenue. Even then we were not given an explanation of why they did not bother to let us know what was going on. They showed no regard for their customers at all. Even after much prying, we were simply told that the online payment gateway was "no longer PCI compliant," although there is no mention of this on their website.
In short, if you are in the market for a payment gateway, avoid the headache and find a more reputable online merchant gateway provider. Electronic Payment Systems will not care about your business or the harm it does to your company.
