Custom thumbnail sizes.

Update: The content in this post maybe out of date or inaccurate. Visit our Support Page

Wouldn't you know it? I need a thumbnail size between Lg and Sm! I am using the Wordpress plugin.

Is there a way I can declare the width/height myself in the free version?

I see this:

xmax=#&ymax=# - custom-sized thumbnail request (Example: &xmax=150&ymax=110)

But not sure if this is appended to the code examples or what...

Thanks

The short answer is: no.

You can specify the width/height in the wordpress widget, but it will be ignored unless you have the custom-size PRO upgrade. Supporting custom size images costs us a lot of resources, so we have to pass that along.

So, I assume that it can be done if the images are cached on my server? If so, then is there someone that has published this technique?

Can it be done is some way with the Php code plug ins you provide?

No Pro version for me - Yet. I don't have the traffic at this stage to pay for it. Hopefully that will change so I can take advantage of some of those neat features.

It can be done, yes... but I don't think anyone has posted anything like a step-by-step tutorial on how to do it yet.

We do not offer support for doing that, but basically you would need to use the "advanced method" (PHP sample source available on our screenshots plugins page) to cache images locally and then you would need to use the free on-the-fly thumbnailer code "thumbfly" (bottom of the plugins page) to show the thumbnails in the exact size you want.

In this case, you would not be using the Wordpress plugin unless you modified it to call "thumbfly" instead of using the "shrinktheweb" for the img src.

Best regards,

Brandon
